Airports
Need to fly? Two major airports are within easy drive of Richfield. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, just over 20 minutes away, offers over a dozen major airlines, making it the largest airport in Ohio. Just drive north on I-77 then west on I-480.
The Akron-Canton Airport, 25 minutes away, gives the choice of seven major airlines. For commuter service to regional cities, try Burke Lakefront Airport in downtown Cleveland. Burke also operates a heliport and has facilities for business jets.

Local Government
Organization Richfield Village exists as a chartered municipality within the boundaries of Richfield Township. The Township has a population of 2,000 and the Village has 3,300 residents. Village and Township public services are independently organized as follows: Richfield Village has a chartered form of government with a mayor and seven members of council. Village property owners pay no operating levies. There are no fire and police levies and there are no charges for rescue calls, brush chipping, road paving and resurfacing, and street lights. Richfield Township is a less densely populated area that surrounds the Village. As a township it is governed by three trustees and the laws of the State of Ohio. Property owners pay no charges for rescue and fire calls. Road maintenance and the Township Police Department are funded by operating levies. Richfield has toll-free calling to all of the Cleveland telephone exchanges and reduced rates to Akron.

Police Richfield has one of the finest police and fire departments in Northeast Ohio. The police department has 17 full time and 4 part time officers.
Fire The fire department has 9 full-time and 20 part-time and volunteer firemen and women, as well as 14 paramedics.
Utilities Richfield is serviced by East Ohio Gas, First Energy, Alltel Telephone, and Cleveland Water in most areas. Some residential properties have private wells.
Communications The Richfield area is serviced by the daily Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon Journal, the weekly West Side Leader and Sun Courier and the monthly Richfield Times.
Radio includes 37 FM and 26 AM stations, in addition to 9 Cleveland and Akron network and public television stations and cable.
